Brandon, Mississippi — The peaceful neighborhood of Gayden Street was shaken late on Thursday, August 28 when police responded to a homicide that claimed the life of 33-year-old Christian Storey, a beloved member of the Brandon community. A citywide manhunt is now underway for the suspect, identified as 35-year-old Matthew Brian Kidd, who is considered “armed and dangerous.”

At approximately 6:05 p.m., the Brandon Police Department (BPD) received reports of gunshots fired at a residence on Gayden Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered Storey deceased at the scene. Investigators confirmed that no one else was harmed and that Kidd fled before authorities arrived.

“This is a tragic and violent act,” said BPD Chief Joseph French. “Our department is working with urgency to locate Matthew Kidd and bring him into custody. We are asking for the public’s assistance to ensure he is apprehended quickly and safely.”
