In Loving Memory of Major John “Alex” Klinner
In less than 48 hours, a community will come together to say goodbye to a man who dedicated his life to something greater than himself. Major John “Alex” Klinner will be honored on Monday morning in Trussville, Alabama—a place his family had only recently begun to call home.
Major Klinner was one of six U.S. Air Force crew members who tragically lost their lives when a military aircraft went down in Iraq on March 12. His passing is not only a loss to his family and community, but to a nation he served with honor, courage, and unwavering commitment.
He was a husband. A father of three. A pilot. A leader. A man who chose service—not just as a duty, but as a calling. Earlier this year, on January 1st, he reached a milestone in that journey, earning a promotion to Major. It was a moment of pride, a reflection of years of dedication and sacrifice.
Now, just months later, his family is preparing to lay him to rest.
The memorial service will be held on Monday, March 30th at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Trussville, and it will be open to the public. The community is invited to gather—not only to mourn, but to honor a life lived with purpose.
As the mayor of Trussville shared, “Let us come together to show our gratitude, our respect, and our unwavering support. His sacrifice will never be forgotten.”
And that is what this moment is about—remembrance, gratitude, and standing beside a family whose loss is immeasurable.
To his wife, Libby, and to his three children:
Your husband and father was a hero—not only in uniform, but in the life he lived every day. He chose to serve, to protect, and to stand for something bigger than himself. His legacy is not only in his service, but in you—in the love he gave, the values he lived by, and the example he set.
Though his time here was far too short, his impact is lasting. His story will be told. His sacrifice will be remembered. And his children will grow up knowing that their father was a man of courage, honor, and deep love.
To those in the area—show up. Stand with this family. Let them see that they are not alone.
And to everyone else—take a moment. Reflect. Remember. And honor Major John “Alex” Klinner, a man who gave everything in service to his country. 🇺🇸
May he rest in peace, and may his family find strength, comfort, and unwavering support in the days ahead.
